The NVIDIA Jetson TX2 module is a NVIDIA Pascal architecture-based AI supercomputer designed to deliver maximum levels of performance and energy efficiency for workloads with very demanding computing needs. Thanks to this, the module concentrates an incredible power in a small format of low consumption, the size of a Raspberry Pi but with an infinitely superior yield. The new NVIDIA component is the successor to Jetson TX1, another AI supercomputer that hit the market in early 2016 at a price of $300. According to the company, the Jetson TX2 offers twice the performance of its predecessor and boasts of consuming half of energy, running at 7.5 watts. This allows the new module to run larger, deeper neural networks, resulting in smarter, more accurate devices, and faster response times for tasks such as image sorting, navigation, or voice recognition. Although its size is only 8.6 x 4 centimeters, the Jetson TX1 board is equipped with all the power, processing power and technology necessary to bring life to intelligent devices of reduced dimensions. It integrates HMP Denver and ARM A57 CPUs, 256-core NVIDIA Pascal graphics, 8GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, a piece of equipment that allows you to represent 4K video at 30 fps or 2K at 60 fps. So, it’s a complete pack of a Spartan army. As far as connectivity is concerned, it has a Gigabit Ethernet port, 802.11.Ac WLAN and Bluetooth, as well as a USB 3.0 and a 2.0 port. In the following table, you can see the complete specifications of NVIDIA Jetson TX2 compared to the first model. The NVIDIA Jetson TX2 development kit, which includes design and documentation guides as well as a preloaded Linux development environment, is already available for pre-sales in the United States and Europe at a price of $599 (which is about Rs.40,000 in Indian currency), and its distribution will begin on March 14 by this year (2017).
